Has anybody had any problems with the Fluke 1652 or it’s leads?

Had mine calibrated about two weeks ago, and today was the first time I had used it. Went to measure the Ze on a TN-C-S system and got a reading of 0.70Ω (socket Zs of 0.67Ω)! The installation was re-wired about 5 years ago, so can’t imagine the reading changing that much since then. Checked all the connections, everything tight, even used a nail file (not mine!), to give the tip ends a bit of a buff, but to no avail.

Decided to drive to a friends house to borrow his Megger test kit (calibrated about six weeks ago). Returned and repeated the same test, but this time, a Ze reading of 0.29Ω (socket Zs of 0.45Ω)!

Going to borrow a third test kit on Monday just to compare against the other two. But left wondering what’s wrong with mine? Paid a lot of money to get it calibrated (didn’t need adjusting according to the test sheet), so feeling a little peeved off. Could it be something wrong with the leads…..but saying that, the leads were returned with ID tags, so I guess they were checked too?

The leads unfortunatly are total crap especially the croc's
Get yourself some decent leads , mine decided to ---'s up during an NIC visit - not funny

Leads are always a problem just spend £100 on a new set , first thing join your leads together and do a continuity test see what the readings are , other thing is did you zero the meter try doing that and test again

bugsy know how you feel ,mine whet **** up during an elecsa visit same day i got a new set in the post phew , dam things ,one thing especialy for lights is the plug in lead adaptors only one crock clip then ,well worth the money

The collage I'm doing 2391 at has these, but none of the students will use the flukes, now even the lectures won't pick them up, too many problems, false readings.
Metrel or megger has been said to be the most reliable.

try CPC they sell some nice flexible ones aint cheep but are as tough as hell ,Never had a problem with my Fluke touch wood ,check it with th cali box every week and always ok ,now ive said that ,i ll go and buy a megger lol

Was it these from CPC? FLUKE - TL165X STD - TEST LEAD SET - Order Code:IN04212

you need to zero all the leads mains ones included, while using the zero button on the tester.

I was comparing test meters this morning (I know, it’s Sunday, but it’s really bugging me), and almost every test was out, except for the RCD test where they were pretty much spot on.

If there was a problem with the tip probe leads, then why would the reading be so far out when using the plug ended lead? There was about 0.25Ω’s difference between the two, and that’s using the same socket!

I’m pretty sure the meter is up the spout?
