Hi all,

I'm coming near the end of my apprenticeship iv got my level 3 certificate and am2 certificate. All i need now is to complete the eal underpinning knowledge questions and a site diary.

Some of the question asked in the underpinning knowledge questions are confusing, because of the wording. Is there any books i could purchase what would help me complete these questions?

Many Thanks

John

The AM2 Underpinning knowledge questions are to be fair, pathetic. Every question seems to ask the same thing.

You need a thick skin and a soft padded room incase you go insane, not to my knowledge are there any books specifically relevant to the AM2.

Iv completed all of my am2.

These questions are the underpinning knowledge questions to complete my apprenticeship. All about safe systems of work, inspect, test and commission etc. but the wording of some of the questions are confusing.

Yeah i got mixed up, i did the NVQ off my own back a few years ago - i know what you mean, and my first reply stands the same. The NVQl3 site diary underpinning knowledge questions are pathetic....theres like 8 seperate ones all with between 8 and 15 questions am i right?

If it thats then you've just gotta do the best you can, don't think there is any books out there to help you.

Yeap your right there stupid iv got the regs book and electricity at work act just trying to look though these to guide me in the right way. But half the questions sound the same.

I found when i was answering them that i was repeating myself all the time aswell and i got the certificate so just go with your head and if its similar to the question previous then so be it.

Maybe use this thread to list your questions that are confusing, I'm sure between us all we could make head or tail of them
It would also be interesting to read the current wording of these exams

I was lucky enough to have an NVQ assessor who gave us a list of 'translations into english' alongside every unit to help understand all the bullsheet questions!

Sometimes the answers they were looking for had absolutely nothing to do with the bleeding questions!!!

Load of old pony!!

Those questions were a pain and I did the same and left them until the end of the NVQ which I finished back in April. You don't need long winded answers. The underpinning knowledge questions were part of your NVQ how did you manage to do your AM2 without completing the NVQ Portfolio? I wasn't even allowed to go as far as booking my AM2 until my NVQ was verified and passed.

I know the questions are stupid. It's just then and my last logbook to complete intill I get my gold card. I paid for the am2 myself to get qualified quicker as the company I worked for weren't going to let me take it in till next September.

Have you got your 2391 or 2394/2395

Stand to be corrected but dont you need these for the gold card?

I don't think you need them as all the sparks at the firm I used to work for had the jib gold card with out 2391 or 2394/5. You just need all your quals and apprenticeship deeds to get your gold card
