EAL version of the City and Guild 2395 ?

Advice on eal 2395 whats your view on this coarse. If its recognised by nappit and nic why bother with city and guild !

I sat the 2395 course in October last year and had my exam in November. Failed with flying colours coz i thought i new it all! and if i had been able to take an exam that was open book i would have passed! The course and exam were very tough, and i had to work my backside off get through the resit, but in doing so i gained what its set out to give you, an understanding and information as to why testing and inspection is done and required to be done properly. most sparks will be able to test work and use the equiptment but we then have to understand the readings we obtain and be able to cross reference with regs and osg.
i'm far from an expert and still in the novice stages compared to some of the guys/gals on here, but i now because of the closed book principle have a good understanding as to what is required when i carryout my work.
i have sat open book exams in the past and all it gives you is, in my opinion a certificate, coz you never had to put any effort in to learn out!

Only if you just want it to gain the bare minimum to join one of those schemes and work on your own for the rest of your life.
If you want to do anything else such as have the option to get a job working for someone else or have credibility on an internet forum, C&G is the way to go; look at the response you've had here regarding EAL qualifications - people don't know what they are and regard them as 'watered down'. An EAL electrician is seen as some kind of deskilled, half-arsed, cardboard cutout of an electrician, which is not how you want a potential employer to view you, or for that matter another electrician, customer, or even the spotty kid behind the trade counter.
