Hi all, I have got to do some bonding to gas and water on Monday and because the water and gas are together but about 15M away from the MET I was going to do it with one 10mm cable and link from gas to water. Am I right in thinking that this is ok as long as it is not cut and linked but is ok as long as it is one continuous link ????

Often wondered about this - Why does it need to be continuous? I mean why can't it be cut and say 10mm Lugs on both connections be used?

I'm not saying I have done this but I can't see any valid reason why this cannot be done?

Also is this the same for say supplementary bonding across boiler pipes? Does that need to be continuous as well or can they be cut and lugs used?

Actually anyone got any pictures of there supplementary bonding to boiler pipe work? Intrigued now to see what people are doing.

:)

Hi mate,

If you run it to the gas, and then on to the water:-

If it's a continuous length and someone removes the gas pipe connection for maintenance, then the water is still bonded.

If it's not continuous, then removing the gas pipe connection would also remove the bond from the water.

You can put a 'lug' on for easier connection to the clamp, but both ends (if cut) need to go into one 'lug'.
