Hi Guys, a question was posted to me during my interview, When there's an earth fault, what happens to this fault? Where does it flows to??Ends where?

Its kind of interview that they will throw question till you will end up uhh!! ahh!! ump!!
I tried google but cannot find definate answers.

Question 2.

you have a temporary 3 phase supply generator supplying to a electrical board , how do connect the earth/CPC on both sides?

Help!!

Fault path will always be the easiest path back to earth or if you like the star point of the origin of the supply.
As far as the gennie is concerned again it would be the star point of the gennie or on some the chassis to the installations earth, which is not the supply authorities earth. Good practice would also involve an earth spike at the generator which may be operating outside the equipotential bonding zone of the installation.

With all due respect, The questions are designed to verify your level of competance, and in fairness they are not difficult to answer.
If your a time served sparks I would even say common knowledge.
So if you need to ask for answers you need to ask if your suitably qualified for the position. Its your call.
