Dear Experts,
I hope anyone of you would answer my simple queries

I belong to Pakistan. At my home, i am getting 4 direct electric line from the nearest Electric pole (approx 100 Meters). 3 of them being the hot lines (phases) and 1 is the neutral wire. I must add that these phases are going directly to the house distribution box. and there is no electric meter in place. (However, i have submitted a request with the power company, but they say that they have no plans to install electric poles on my street yet.) Therefore, i will have run the electricity without a meter and an electric pole for long. they however, give me a fix bill every month regardless of how much i consume.

Unfortunately, at my place, i am continuously getting bad voltages and fluctuations. Due to this, I am facing electrical equipment losses and can't use Air conditioners. I inquired it with one of my friends working at the power company who told me that there is a problem with the neutral and goes without saying, will take very long for it to get fixed.

My house also does not have an Earth Pit. So i was planning to have this work done and dig an Earth pit in my Lawn. One electrician checked the earthing of my house with his meter and told me that it is getting only 150-160v Earth. Which means that it is very poor and should be 220v.

The plan is to have a 4 feets by 4 feets with approx 6 feets deep Earth Pit.

now my questions are as follows:

1) After installing the Earth pit, will my voltage fluctuation problem be resolved?

2) If the neutral has a problem, can i disconnect the neutral from the power company, and use my Earth as neutral? what Threat am i inviting here?

3) If this earth pit is in my Lawn (Garden), and say, i am watering the plants, will i get an electric shock?

I hope any of you experts will help me out

Regards
Athar

You need to check your local codes of practice, this being a British site we could only advise you of our regulations.
No you can’t use the earth in place of the neutral, sorry but that is up to your supply company.
As for watering your lawn, the more you water it the better your earth pit will be. You should also look at the infill you use, depending on the resistively of the soil carbon and / or urea may have to be added.
