Hi all, does anyone know if there is a earth rod box enclosure that you can basically mount directly on top of a concrete path.
Was planning on removing the old twig and using the existing hole to drive some new ones in, rather than risk hitting a service.

Driving a new rod into an existing hole created by an older rod.

I'm no TT expert, but reckon this may not give you the best results compared to driving a new rod/s into fresh ground. That is unless the new rod is much thiker and longer than the old.

Is it not possible to cut out a square section of the concrete to fit a decent earth rod pit? Looks a lot neater and more professional in the end.

Fully agree with Amp David here, fit a proper earth box, be it concrete or the heavy duty plastic type. The other thing is that you really need to drive 2 X rods coupled together to give you depth and a good degree of stability, the use of just one short rod will NOT!! Those cheap black PVC boxes will deteriorate over time and are not suitable for traffic passing over them, be it a footpath or driveway. The other advantage is, the the lids of the proper earth pits allow water to pass, thereby keeping the earth rod moist/wet....

If you put a earth rod box on top of path then that could be a trip hazard for the home owner if they come out in the night and cant see it .

You should see one of the installs at a shop in my local town. The conduit comes out of the wall, down to ground level, then out away from the wall by 300mm approx, then there is one of those conduit rod boxes fixed to the paving slab. This is on the main high street! I looked at it when it first appeared and wondered how long it would be before someone tripped over it and called an ambulance chaser!!!
