Hi,

Bit of an ---- question but I not sure if i have the right earth rod connecting clamp.

How do I make a solid earth cable connection to the rod using this type of clamp, when the bolt is tightened against the rod, due to the bolt tread being exposed after being fitted to the rod, the lug will be loose on the thread as there is not locking back nut, or do you just clamp the bare conductors in the 'V' section of the clamp against the rod.

Not sure if any of that has made sense. but any help would be apreachiated, even if its to say get a different clamp!

Cheers guys

They are crap clamps, your better off getting a clamp with the nut and bolt compression and fit a lug to the cable then clamped by another nut
If I have to use the type shown I crimp a lug on the cable and fit the lug into the v section

Ditto dont forget the label, and attach it to the box cover with which you are enclosing the clamp :)

Thanks for the informative replies, I will change the clamp for one that accepts lugged terminations, I think on reflection, that inspection and testing will be easier, and give greater reliability/consistancy of connection afterwards.

Cheers
