Came across this today whilst pricing up a job.
The Earth is the main bond from the CU, it terminates in the little henley block, then the bare copper core from it disappears behind the wooden board the meter and service head is mounted on.

The house is about 50yrs old, and is fed from cable strung between the houses.
I had a quick look for rod, but couldnt see one.
Neither was there anything else going to the service head.

Could this core join up with the main incommer to make TNC..? or will it go to a rod..?

Or is the answer "get the meter out and see what the Ze is" hehe..

PS I wouldve done but the householder had to go out... !

house had a a new CU about 6 years ago.

No sign of any RCDs, but not sure what the 16th regs were on a TT..?
But the other two bonds to water and gas apear present and correct.

This is the main bond, doesnt appear to be 16mm but its only a short length to the CU, so not a big job. Its the bare core im concerned with..

If it is a TT it will have to have RCD protection somewhere....if there are none it probably doesnt go to a spike, that bare earth looks tiny....you will have to find out where it goes and do some Ze tests I feel.

the little earth is obviously the main earth and judging by size and where its heading that its got to at some point been tt, would guess whoever did board change never tested just ran new earth to henley

yes..

will be subject of some tests if i get the work..
The tails are 16mm anyway, so it all needs redoing.

i think its either the wire to the rod, and whoever fitted the CU 6 six years ago wasnt bothered about any RCD protection.
Or it goes to the overhead sheath somehow for TNS... either way it will have to come out me thinks.. :(
