Does anyone has any idea on how is East Birkshire College for Electrtotechnical Courses near M4 very close to Heathrow Airport. I have shopped around couple of places and this college does the course on level 3 and there fee is the lowest around in the London area. I need enrol before end of week, would appreciate any feedback.

I tried to post this thread on the Courses section but it wouldn't let me do it.

Hello there and welcome.

I'm one of the sessional lecturers at langley so I feel I could vouch for this and give you my opinion.

For the students themselves, the facilities are very good. As for the delivery of your course it would depend on who has been assigned to you tbh. We have had some slight problem in the past where students have been tought to pass the exam, and so our opinion was that they a have been missing out a little. The college has rectified this for the time being.

There was a slight issue also with the external verifying for the NVQ in the past couple of years, but they had a rearrange of the assessors and all is going in the right direction now.

Pass rates are up.

Hope this is useful.

I found when I did my 7671 the course tutor was purely interested in exams passed. I found the course of little interest but took it because industrial employers are now insisting on it even though it has little relevance to my field of M&Q and Foundries.

The concern that we've had with the colleges pure interest in passing exams is why we've created our own training centre for all short courses. Some students arnt concerned about the 'tought to pass' method. However our findings have been that the students that we have 'defected' from the college to our training centre have really noticed the difference in quality training.
