Like a fair few on here i am looking for some advice. I have just sat my 2nd yr at college. 2365 level 2 diploma. Sadly this yr was partially cut due to the adult funding cuts and remaining head count of successful candidates. In its place the college have put on a 13 wk course for the regs whilst last yrs intake catch up to us with the intention of getting us altogether to sit yr 3. I would like to continue some form of education after the 13 weeks but pretty much every local college are only catering for full time students.
So my question is it worth me looking at EC4U for example and sitting my part p for the time being. I will still return to college the year after to complete yr 3 and also have the ability to work with a friend to gain more experience ( previous apprentice a few yrs back company folded) and obtain evidence for my nvq level 3. They do offer other courses but to be fair the college have been great and i would like to keep my time with them providing we get the numbers.

If anyone has any experience of EC4U or a reputable company that offer further education for me please can you let me know

Thanks

Mark

Part P courses and domestic installer courses are for those that are not doing their education through the proper route. Stick to the route you have chosen and complete year 3 and your NVQ. Once you have these you will not need either of these courses you are looking at to fill in the time. They are poor substitutes for the courses you are already taking so they will not benefit you at all.
Keep your money in your pocket and get some practical experience in instead.

Thanks for the advice. Are there any extra courses i could do in the mean time? I am concerned that if numbers fail for this year now we will struggle for numbers for year 3 so would like to obtain as many qualifications as possible in the mean time. Then if it runs great but if not i can still look for training providers and or supplementry courses. My class started off with around 20 there are currently 4 completing the regs course. If that happens with the next group it may not run again as it will not prove financially viable for the college which is a bit concerning to say the least

2394/2395 would be good qualifications to get.

I would spend your time looking round for alternative colleges/training providers to continue the course you are currently following should your current college not run the third year.
I would suggest the 2394/2395 as they are worthy courses, but they are aimed at working qualified electricians with experience in testing and might be a little too much for you at this stage. I would suggest doing these courses after you are qualified as you will have all the necessary background learning by that stage.

EDIT: beaten to it ... lol

Initially the college were looking to add in some of the inspection and testing but removed it and left it as just the regs. Only training provider i could find were based in gatwick and wanted 6500 for the 2365. All the colleges are in the same boat in wales from what i can see. I left a message at nantgarw today but everyone seems to want full time students or only have availability for apprentices. Which isnt an option for me to quit work and start over again as i have a mortgage and a lil one.
