Hi guys!
I came to work today and was asked to show my ECS card, do u know what a hell is it?

I think it might be a 'special' version of the CSCS card?

everybody is asking for an ECS card now, apparently a CSCS is not good enough since the Agencies all heard about it, they are wanting an ECS card or you dont get on site, I think maybe there is a jobsworth on your site that was asking for that, as it can be an "excuse" to pay off workers, I've been on a job where they wanted everybody to have PASMA, IPAF, 3 Day first aid, Abrasive wheels and a Gas nailers certificate from ITW, I dont have a first aid certificate and since that job all my other ones have gone "out of date" so I will have to redo all of them apart from the CSCS which I done again already.
I asked about the 3 day first aid and they are looking for 375pounds plus VAT, they say its "HSE approved" but for near on 500 pounds I would want it to say "HSE" on the actual certificate, I dont fancy an inkjet printed certificate with a signature scribbled on it saying "joe blogs has successfuly attended a 3 day first aid course.....expires on......expiry date...." as I think that employers and any health and safety people would just take a look at it and tear it up....

What about St. Johns ambulance service. Just thought of this myself. If I remember correctly they will train you free if charge in first aid but you have to be one of their first aiders at a football match, concert or village fair for 2 days a year. May be worth looking into it.
