I'm having a PV system installed next Thursday and am just being pro-active by downloading a FiT application from my current providers website, EDF - Feed in tariff

Is it just the 'Application Form' itself that needs completing or do I also need to complete and post the 'Our Terms' form as well?

According to their documentation, and the application form it look like you send them the application form (with the MCS certificate, proof of ownership of the PV system, i.e. the invoice and a proof of address). They then send you a copy of the terms for you to sign and return. That is certainly how it works with most other companies. The eligibility date (which you want to be before 3/3 just in case DECC lose the appeal to the supreme court), is when EDF receive your application form, not when they receive the signed terms.

However, it would not hurt phoning the freephone number they quote just to check and confirm this.

Just one other point, you do not have to use your energy supplier to be you FIT provider.
For some of my customers before the 12 Dec fiasco I used Good Energy in Chippenham, as I found their forms easy to complete, I could download them from their website and I could take them in by hand and get them checked so my customers were guaranteed the FIT rate at that time.
If you have an energy provider that is based near to where you live, and you have lost your trust in the postal service, give them a call to see if they will act as your FIT provider.
Hope this helps

EDF are very good and will accept application via email if you are able to do this....

They have a backlog though ( just finished July's applications ) , ensure you have sent registered post or asking for a read receipt and call the freephone no after 5days, should you not receive a confirmation of receipt by then

Yes it does help, I'll look for the addresses of the other suppliers just in case I choose not to register with EDF.

Good to know EDF are very good though application via email might be difficult due to my scanner going ---- up a few months ago and me not bothering to replace it!
It'll be the good old trusted Royal Mail via Special Delivery I think but what if they acknowledge receipt but only get around to processing it months later and find an error. Would that scupper any chance of me getting 43.3p should it be reinstated until the 3/3?

You have to make sure that your FIT form is filled in correctly, with all the supporting evidence that they require(ID,MCS certificate, proof of ownership etc) and they have to acknowledge receipt of your forms.
It does not matter if it takes them 6 months to process it, you will get the tariff from receipt of forms.
If it is wrong and they bounce it back to you, then you may miss the deadline, whatever that may be..
That was why I hand delivered my customers and had them checked.

Thanks but I'm going to opt for Earthstores suggestion of hand delivering and checking with a local supplier. British Gas is only 15 miles or so from me so I'll phone them and ask if they would accept me with me not being a customer.

OK, no probs, the offer still stands if anyone else wants a Good Energy FiT application form send me your email address and I will forward one on to you.

As one of the big 6, British Gas is legally obliged to accept you regardless of whether you are a customer.

However, whether British Gas may not accept hand delivery, and even if they did, they may not check it for you on delivery, so you may still be in the same position if they take weeks to process and it turns out there was an error in the application form.

It is mainly the smaller companies (like Good Energy) who offer a hand delivery and check on delivery service.

Looks like I'd better make sure the application is correct then. Will be checking with the installer and on here too for any obvious mistakes!
