Hey guys just want run something past you,

Phoned the NICEIC and they advised me no installation cert if required for commercial property. So what happens here you just do the job and leave it until a new shop renter wants to rearrange the outlets???

Bit weird, surely you need to complete a condition report or something to prove all is well?

He advised me on the phone it's different regulations to domestic.

for niceic substitute muppet. there's only 1 set of regulations. domestic/industrial/commercial. all same regs.

You are mixing up your terms here.

All electrical work (bar maintenance) needs to have an installation certificate (whether minor works or electrical installation) in accordance with BS7671.

All electrical work needs to comply with the building regulations.

Some electrical work, in domestic properties only, needs to be notified to building control (whether via a self certification scheme or directly at cost) so that a building regulations compliance certificate or a building regulations completion certificate can be issued to the customer.

So am I right in saying I complete an electrical installation in a commercial I don't need to go through niceic as it don't need to be submitted to building control. Does the customer /landlord keep the copy that's it?

you give 1 copy to the person ordering the work and keep 1 copy for yourself. your copy can be stored in your PC, or you can print it off and file it.

Thanks fella, I'm a domestic installer but hold level 2, NVQ & 17th edition so far. Well competent to work in commercial and warming to industrial. Am I "allowed" to work in commercial and industrial. They have not said I cannot and say I'm a competent person.
