Hi all.

Need to do an EIC for a small sub main in a garage. Its fed from an 40a 30ma RCD.
In the characteristics section it asks for the main switch details. Do i put the RCD in their or the main sw in the CU?

The run is about 15 mtr's, maybe a shade more. Run under the floor in house in PVC T&E, then out the wall to swa suspended on catenary wire (easiest way to run) and into garage.
The RCD will trip if operating current exceeds 40 amps, but this is not overcurrent protection? Should switch it to RCBO then.

OK, you are completing an EIC, so you are installing this?
You should be well aware that an RCD does not have over current protection, only earth fault protection.
The RCD will NOT trip if the current exceeds 40A, it is only rated to take a total current of 40A, like cooker switches are rated to 45A but will not trip!
If they had over current protection why would there be RCBOs?
You need over current protection for that supply cable.
