Hi guys, 2 questions.

on a eic for number of points served would 8 downlights in a bathroom be 1 point or 8?
Also if the customer has requested switch heights at say 100mm high would you write it on cert to cover yourself or wouldn't bother?

i'd say 8 points. and switches at 100mm? is that foot switches?

suppose extractor fan in bathroom is another point aswell?

fan is a point. and as long as the job is not a new build, the customer can have his switches at whatever height he wants them, as long as BS7671 is complied with. bear in mind that the 1200mm is a building reg. for new builds. think it's so small kids can mess with them.

Switches are fine at that height though not for me!

we know that, but how many disabled people can't reach a switch at 4'6" as opposed to 3'6". none thast i've ever met.

It's just a standard height that somebody somewhere came up with.
Ticket machines for disabled use are also fixed at a maximum height of 1200mm. I guess it's just some they're not reaching upwards for the switch given that they may also have problems doing so.

over the years the sockets have gone up in height and the switches have come down, come 2020 there will just be sockets and switches all around the room at 800mm. :stuart:
