Hello,

Can anyone clarify how the following EICR scenarios should be classified?

1. Non IP rated downlights in bathroom inside zone 1

2. Non IP rated downlights in bathroom outside zone 1

3. Non Fire rated downlights in any location

Thanks in advance...

@ OP. just be sure before coding that the downligthers are actually within zones wrt the height. over 2.25m is outside zones.

I thought, C2 for all, but just wanted to check other opinions. Wasn't sure if 'fire rated' were necessary, or just good practice.

Thanks,

What voltage are they?, if they are SELV they maybe OK, but dont quote me, see below.

If you are unsure about fire rating and IP ratings, then check the Electricians guide to the building regs, it will be easier to work out than if you look in BS7671, as you will need to look in a lot of different places to work things out. It is a good while since i last had to fit any downlights, so i am not prepared to comment on whether or not yours should be, as i am not up to date with the latest requirements.

Cheers.................Howard
