DB has redundant cables connected to protective devices!
Any reg in the 18th??? Memory recalls (badly) something in GN4

Why would it be a C1 even if it was connected?

I have the wiring for a future shower connected in the cu, at the other end local to the future shower placement the wiring is terminated in a mf box ready to use.

The only thing that could ever warrant would be a FI should the person doing the periodic not be bothered to look for the other end.

And yes, on occasion I put a bit of tape across all the off rcbos as if something trips, it's then easy to see which one is in the "wrong" position - more for the convenience of others than mine.

The tape over the mcb doesn't automatically mean it's an attempt at isolation.

Yes they were connected, was looking for a reg.
And not relying on something from GN4

is everybody here just trying to beat me up? And not actually give any help?

Chill man, I was just trying to establish what the actual issue is. If you've disconnected it there is no issue as you will have left it safely connected to the earth bar.
If it's still connected then you can't possibly code it first without establishing if it is contravening a regulation that impacts on the safety of the installation. If you've not done this then it's FI required.

Redundant cables; connect them to earth or pull em out.

This would ‘prevent danger so far as is reasonable practicable’ in the spirit of Regulation 130-02-01.

Regulation 130-02-01
'Persons and livestock shall be protected so far as is reasonably practicable against dangers that may arise from contact with live parts of the installation'

That aside I don't believe there is an explicit reg about terminating unused cables to earth.

I think he was wanting a reg regarding live bare cables.

You could use the above for them no? If they're live and just dangling like a duck then you are not meeting the requirements of 130-02-01

ETA; obviously if they're dead then at best I'd go a C3; they have the potential to become live but would require something else to happen first

Immediate action was to disconnect, as per code 1.
Thank you for providing a reg, that is all I wanted.
Remedial works would be to totally the remove the cabling including neutrals which would have to be properly identified. Failing that, an enclosed box would need to fitted, with fixed based connectors clearly identified, and put to earth.

But hasn't that last option not already been done?

You can't assume it has - so can't ignore it.
You can't assume it hasn't so can't code C1, C2, or C3.

Without knowing what the actual issue is, it becomes FI.

If you do know the wires are unterminated, and left hanging potentially live, then it would be C1 if exposed to the touch, C2 if in something, but not in a good way, perhaps C3.

The actual regulation would depend upon the actual issue.

All I want is a reg number cupcake, as per the OP
