Did an EICR today as soon as I walked in lots of things failed.

However what got me thinking the most was the fact that every room was fed from its own circuit breaker 3 bed flat all on 15A mcb's each room contained 2 double sockets. But these sockets where fed from 1.5mm twin and earth. Are these really as much of a hazard as universally thought? Considering each room is protected by its own mcb?

Worst thing I did see though was unbelievably was a junction box of the kitchen ring in 2.5mm out if that came a 4mm twin an earth feeding the cooker switch

IMO the sockets are safe provided that disconnection times for the MCB is met, and there is no insulation. If I remember correctly, 1.5 is good for 16A, obviously this is without any derating, but if the cables are clipped direct under plaster, at less than 30 deg, no insulation, then it should be ok.

The Ring at the end of a 4mm cable is not a recognised standard install.

I think the OP means that there's a spur off the 2.5mm² ring feeding the cooker switch in 4mm².

Nothing really wrong with it if the cooker is plug and socket type. However it's recommended that anything over 2kW to be on it's own dedicated circuit

Considering each room is protected by its own mcb? The anti RFC brigade will like this.

??????????????????????????????????

Yes thats right cooker fed off kitchen ring. Looks to be over 2kw.

I though sockets would be ok.

However major issues elsewhere. Ip ratings on consumer units non existant. Finger and tool ingress on everyone of the seperate consumer units.

Socket outlet in bathroom feeding heater 1m away from bath. Bonding is literally 1mm earth.

All earths have been cut out of consumer units but at each socket outlet I get a Zs. Must be earthed elsewhere?

If it is as you say then you are quite correct.

But if its going to the cooker switch and then to a cooker connection outlet,
then that's un-acceptable as some one could connect a load more than 2KW(hob/Oven) to it,
instead of just using it as an igniter socket.

Is the Kitchen on a Ring?(r1,r2 & rn?)

4mm spur to Cooker switch must be a C2

No sockets allowed in the bathroom,C3M

Check the bonding and earthing,
