Hi All, just wondered how much would be fair to charge for an EICR, I am an approved contractor and get asked to do various types of certs ie fire, em lights and pat testing, I understand it would go by the installation size but im after an average, thanks for any in put in advance, regards john

What is the going rate for an EICR on a 3 bed semi in the north west. regards john

EICR pricing is difficult because there are a lot of cowboys out there who do an EICR in half an hour and charge £50.
Unfortunately professionals cannot compete with these prices as a full EICR should take at least half a day if not a day on domestic 3 bed houses.
It all does depend on how much information you have and how long you will need to identify circuits and accessories and hwo much access you have, etc. etc.
£150 per EICR is about a ball park figure, may be less in the north west.
But it is too variable to specify.

The other certificates are entirely different and pricing is very individual as well.

Charge your day rate, and shove a few quid on for the paperwork time. I used to charge £25 certification fee, 3 years ago though. I did a nice trade in replacements as well, £100 for a replacement after after 12 months, £50 if less than 12 months. I took my marketing strategy from Ryanair.

A couple of years ago, a person I respect who only does PIR/EICR, was charging £12 per circuit, which was a reasonable rule of thumb, which I've used to work out pricing. Obviously that's well worth it within a good commercial installation, as you would probably add For certification time on top
