Elec adaptors

Ive got a keyboard.... 9 volts...
thought Id have a go with it.
I found 4 plug adaptors... prob 20 years old by now, but they have been
kept dry and in a safe place.
you can adjust them to 3 v 6 v 9 v 12 v etc

I was surprised to find that not one of them worked....
theres a red led light on them and that did nt come on !!!

Is there something about these adaptors that they conk out very easily ?
I could have understood perhaps one going down... but all 4 ???

are you sure you'e not plugged them in a dodgy socket outlet?

no the sockets ok,
in the end I got a recent adaptor I bought for a scanner
plugged that in and everything was ok the keyboard worked

But the 4 adaptors... prob 15 or 20 years old by now ( and hardly used )
seem to be caput !
