Hello, see my free and very useful concise ELEC & GAS utility energy price comparison spreadsheet
ELEC GAS WATER autocalc: 5th tab, ELEC&GAS price comparison
This spreadsheet tab includes QUAD TIER template, in addition to the SINGLE TIER, and also DOUBLE TIER.
The TIER TEMPLATES (Single, Double & Quad) are on the RIGHT HAND SIDE (The 2nd page) of the 5th tab (ELEC&GAS price comparison).
The bright idea is to COPY the template you need (From R/H, 2nd page), then PASTE the required template to the 1st page (L/H), then edit with PRICE RATES and TIER KWH to/from (Also option to include DUEL FUEL DISCOUNT and/or PERCENTAGE DISCOUNT). This is simple to do, like stickers!
Remember the copied TIER TEMPLATE (From R/H 2nd page) needs the YEARLY CONSUMPTION table (From L/H TOP 1st page) for formula auto calculations to work, ok. (Hence you can NOT just copy&paste just the TIER TEMPLATEs without the YEARLY CONSUMPTION table. But you can save just that tab to a seperate workbook, rightclick the workbook tab, left click MOVE OR COPY, left click CREATE A COPY, left click TO BOOK, NEW BOOK).
IMPORTANT NOTES:
~ The yearly power consumption comparison of all templates is from top L/H table, adjust to your usage (If known, if unknown leave as is):
GAS annual consumption: cell C3 (My example 2720kwh yearly consumption)
ELEC annual consumption: cell E3 (My example 3942kwh yearly consumption)
~ The vast majority of ENERGY SUPPLIERS quote in either SINGLE TIER or DOUBLE TIER.
However if you have a need for the QUAD TIER it does have a working example.
You may not need all of the tier rows, but they must follow in order (FROM kwh TO kwh):
FROM kwh then TO kwh. Eg:
ELEC RATES:
0 to 180kwh, Rate 0.21972.
Over 3942kwh, Rate 0.12380
ELEC T1 in QUAD TIER TEMPLATE: from 0kwh to 180kwh
ELEC T2 in QUAD TIER TEMPLATE: from 180kwh to 3942kwh
GAS RATES:
0 to 670, Rate 0.08248
Over 670, Rate 0.04085
GAS T1 in QUAD TIER TEMPLATE: from 0kwh to 670kwh
GAS T2 in QUAD TIER TEMPLATE: from 670kwh to 2720kwh
Also a very important note for the QUAD TIER template:
The last TIER specified by the ENERGY SUPPLIER in the TO column on the LAST TIER ROW you need, must finish with the yearly consumption for that energy.
In the example on the QUAD TIER template spreadsheet the GAS yearly consumption is 2720kwh in cell M25. See example ELEC GAS WATER autocalc: 5th tab, ELEC&GAS price comparison
Then when there are no other Pricing Tiers for your quote example, all following tiers will be FROM 0 TO 0, for example see cells L26 & M26 in ELEC GAS WATER autocalc: 5th tab, ELEC&GAS price comparison
Once you see the example QUAD TIER template, all will become clear, and it will be so obvious, you'll think this explanation was a pleasant thought (Nice gesture perhaps, but unnecessary as persons reading this wouldn't be a complete idiot in the first place).
