hi all, had my assessment yesterday 2.5 hours long. was a bit nervous at first but settled down a the time went by. The inspector was testing my knowledge and asked one or 2 questions i did not have the answer to right away. i did know where to look and gave him the answers that he required out of the electricians guide to the building regs book. as he said he was not testing my memory but my ability to find the answers in order for me to carry out work safely and by the book(the big red one). One of the things he did point out was that i had used white tape on the interlink wires on my mains smoke detectors and that i should have used brown tape or sleeving as it was a switch wire inefect. I told him that i had done my 17th edition only 2 months ago and that was what the instructor had told us to do. so i removed the tape and sleeved the wires. apart from that the assessment was a good one and he gave me an A. my first A in a test.
Anyone thinking of taking the assessment should do a bit of reading and practice your safe isolation and testing proceedures. its a good feeling when you meet the standard. cheers for listening to my rambles.
