electric cooker tripping

hi guys

Can anyone advise what maybe the cause of electric cooker tripping out when switched on, the cooker was in a flat
in old folks premises and taken out and put in another flat of the same block, basically taken out and put back in
all the rings work fine but when oven switched on it trips out ??????????

When you say it trips out: Do you mean an RCD or is it an MCB (Circuit Breaker) ?

cut down on it's cocaine intake. seriously, looks like a knackered oven element. IR test required.

Assuming the supply was reconnected like for like as it was in the original location it can only be an internal fault.

could well be that something has been disturbed in transit by hairy-arsed movers, causing a short on the internal wiring.

Does it trip straight away (when you put the oven on from cold)? Or is there a bit of a delay as it heats up and then it trips the MCB?

not straight away after it heats up a bit.

Element IMO. Are you able (competent) to check it out yourself? You might try the U K Whitegoods forum for some assistance etc as they also have a spares section I think (or espares etc). An appliance engineer might cost a fair bit but an easy job if you can do it yourself.

So find which element. Top grill, top ekement, bottom element. Low ohms resistance test for continuity to try n track it down. Good luck.
