We had a problem like this a couple of months ago. The electrician that works for us, all he had to do was connect the feed in the mains and all go I'd done the rest the day before. 5 hours later my dad gets a phone call that the fobs are not working and the gates won't open with the fobs. So after getting abuse for a good 10 mins off my dad, I get sent there to have a look, after about 10 seconds at looking at the fobs there was a tiny bit of clear plastic with writing in a very small font saying "please remove before operating"

Pulled them out and both worked.
