Hi all,

I've just moved a week a go from the UK to SE Asia into a rented house. We have 3 bathrooms, each with the illuminated switches outside of the room for the electric heaters. These are 2 cylinders, that sit outside the house, attached to the rear wall and fed with water and power. I don't know which feed which bathroom.

Now, I've been having random hot showers some times, sometimes cold. The switches are illuminated at both switch positions, so I don't know which is on and which is off. To make things worse, 2 of the switches have been fitted upside down, so when the switch is in the usual 'off' position, the small red marking on the switch is shown, but underneath. As said, these lights stay on whatever position. I assume that the switch would have been fitted so that the usual push down is on, but who knows. These switches must work either way, depending on which way they've been wired?

Now cold showers are bearable on occasions due to the heat over here, but I'm more worried that the heaters are on all the time and my bills are going up.

I will attempt to leave them in a position for a day and see if the water is cold or hot, but otherwise, is there a way to tell if they are on or off? I'm no electrician and my landlord, who speaks no English is shall we say, not the most helpful now that he has his years rent!

Any thoughts appreciated

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
