electric heaters

hi, my friend bought a 2 bedroomed house that had night storage heaters in it and has built a big extension on it to make it a 4 bedroomed house and has asked me to install electric radiators in it. he has an 80 amp fuse and I worked out that the maximum load off the electric radiators and an emersion heater is around 20kw, if they all start up together makes it is just over 80 amps. then there is all the other electrical circuits to consider ie cooker, sockets, lights. and i think the fuse will blow even if i get it uprated to 100amps, or will the diversity calculations make it workout ok? I have recommended oil central heating. what are your thoughts on this?

cheers

Diversity?? How about the fact that storage heaters tend to come on at night!!!

Then you can start looking at the diversity side of things.... lol!!!

sorry i meant that he had night storage heaters before but these arent storage heaters, these are electric radiators so they will be on during the day

thats why I said oil central heating with an unvented tank so there is no worry at all of high electric bills or overload. he said he knows another electrician who will install the electric heaters.. good luck to him.
