On a PIR, electric hob next to sink, take a look at photo

Your thoughts and what code?

Which part of BS7671:2008 do you think this contravenes?

Where is the cooker control switch?

So there's no recommendation for this or code given? An electric hob right next to sink that will almost certainly get splashed many times, I know it doesn't go against anything in bs7671, but what about building regs, do they not state 300mm distance required? Cooker isolator is in cupboard below

Do you not think the hob is designed for a bit of splashing from boiling pans etc.?

The building reg's are concerned with accessories such as socket outlets, not appliances, we haven't gone that far down the nanny state route (yet).

Yeah I see where your coming from, suppose your right, it just plays on my mind, it don't look right to look at. I just see it as a hazard, a high Kw electric hob so close to water... Is it just me then being over paranoid

Paranoid - no, careful - yes, your PIR's will be of more value if you're careful and not rushing to get out the door to get to the next one, let alone stopping to write it up in a professional manner.

As above aslong as cooker switch is within 2m no code!

Bet its in cupboard under the sink!

If an isolator is beyond 2m from the appliance what code would you give?....4?

In this same flat as photo there is the shower pull cord above the bath, centre of ceiling, with cord hanging down over bath, it's above 2.25m so out of zones. Just odd

If it out of zones its ok. 2m only implies to cooker switch.

Any RCD protection . previouse life as a chef you could swim on my hobs lol matt you could sit on the hob and wash your feet ,Mmmm perhaps not may end up with scorched butt cheeks
