electric meter running backwards ?? whats wrong with it ?

can anyone help me with this .
my father in law is fitting an electric meter for a residential caravan and when he plug it in it started running backwards.
i have tested all the incoming and out going sides with my multi tester and all test are ok just the internal wheel is spinning backwards ...live and neutral are on correct as this was my first thought as the problem??? im confused dot com

The little motor inside that spins the wheel may have been wired with incorrect polarity

I've heard of this before relating to solar powered sources. Just had a look on youube and there are plenty of examples , just search for meter backwards on youtube..

anyway..it's nothing to complain about! ;O)

yes i already looked on utube . i can understand it when using solar panels but we dont have anything like that ??

Why not just connect it the other way round

we tried changing the feed side over for the load side and the test meters than showed reverse polarity

It may cause confusion with identification of conductors which is a no no perhaps better to give whoever made it a ring and get an exchange that works properly.

So ???Did the wheel then go round the "right way" If so get another meter.

no the wheel still went the wrong way when we wired it the wrong way

Its an A.C. mechanical watt hour meter ( I assume) So would reverse polarity have any effect?

I wouldn't worry, let it run for a couple of months then phone up your supplier and ask 'when am I going to get my refund'

yes i tested the feed for reverse polarity at the source and all was OK .
we have other meters running of the same source and they are working fine .
it was a second hand meter and apparently worked fine for the previous owner.

by "Worked fine" does that mean he was getting cheaper bills?
