Hi all, i'm due to change an electric shower unit over and have come across a small bump in the road, the water connection is in the same position as the old shower but slightly forward, so if i was to fit the shower without changing pipe work as it's buried in the wall, i would have to bring the unit slightly off the wall by means of possibly a couple of batons, the question is would this be acceptable as the shower is a sealed unit and not in direct water flow?

Hi,

All though it is a sealed unit, I am assuming that the cable entry will be at the back, so if you mount it on battens water will be able to get in. Best bet, without actualy seeing the unit or pipe, would be to get a plumber to shorten the pipe for you.

Cheers

Jay

no the water pipe is sitting out from the wall further than is required for the new shower, but i have no access to pipe work without chopping out the wall and removing tiles e.t.c,( there is a 90 sticking out of wall for shower)

Is this in your own property?

I would prefer to hear that you altered the pipework than use batons;) Whilst it may get you out of a tricky situation it may look a little tacky?

Can you post up a couple of pictures so that we can get a clearer image of what is required please:thumbsup

i agree it will look tacky but it's in a shower cubicle that is being re-furbed in a month so will be able to make corrections then, just need to get shower working before then

had exactly this problem here at home. ended up using angle grinder to cut pipe back and re soldering a 90. far better to alter pipework than make a pig's ear.
