A friend asked me to go around to his house as his wife kept getting shocks whilst washing up. I used my Fluke T5 and used the earth from a socket and then touched the sink...... I got 115v.
I then scratched a bit of paint from the washer and when tested also got 115v?? The same result with the waterpipes.
I isolated the circuits one at a time and found he fault occured when the downstairs ring main was on, so assumed that a wire must be bare and touching a water pipe, however I have looked everywhere and cannot find a wire with any signs of obvious damage.
Can anyone else spread some light on what could be causing this?
It was quite dark when I went around so didn't get down in the cellar to check the CU and bonding but could this have something to do with it?
Thanks in advance
