I am currently changing my upstairs bedroom to a bathroom and would like to install electric UFH (we are off maiins gas and all electric).

I have the original floorboards and would like to keep them as the floor finish. Is there any way to use Elec UFH in this manner as I don't want any tiles or laminate flooring.

I can't see a way of fixing the original boards back with the wires underneath them without risking puncturing them.

Why do you want to keep the original floorboards? You would have to rip them all out anyway and do as suggested above if you want them as your finished surface, i would leave them be if thats the finish you want, the floor won't be that cold anyway

I want to keep them as its a victorian cottage and they are original and look nice imo. I did think about a floating floor but feel it will cause a step up in the room.

I agree it's not the norm but it would have been nice to have both. I would have thought someone with a period property may have done this at some point. May need a rethink.

I don't know how you would go about without raising the floor, you could try fixing from the underside if you could take the ceiling below down

wigh up the pros and cons.

floorboards will not go wrong.

floorboards look good.

floorboards don't have running costs.

stick with the floor as is. put a couple of rugs down.

If the bedrooms empty, why dont you carefully lift the boards that you need to, then opt for a wet ufh system? I did it in my kitchen in a house I used to have, but I had a cellar which made it much easier. Or like monkey electric says, consider ripping the ceiling down from underneath.
