Electric Underfloor heating problem

H

henry46

I have just had a 14sq m underfloor heating system installed. My calculations tell me that this system should be using 2.2Kw. However the floor is only just warming up and the Eon usage meter tells me the usage at the moment is just over 580w.

The floor probe is faulty and a new one is being dispatched tonight.

Has anyone got any ideas why the usage is so low and why the floor is only just warming up.

Quite possibly because of the probe?

Give the new one a try and see what temp you can get it up to.

There isnt a lot else that could be a problem tbh.

Odd...the probe will just switch off the element when the temperature is reached....if it is a 2.2kw element it should run at 2.2kw regardless of the probe, not 580w. Either put a clampmeter on it to verify the current, and calculate the output,or check the resistance of the element, and measure voltage and verify the output that way.If you can verify that the element is producing 2.2kw when energised, the probe and stat are not switching it on for long enough.
