I've been using Electrica for a while now. Not sure why/if I've posted details before?

If not, here it is:

Free Electrical Estimating Software

Just register then you get access within a couple of minutes.

The PDF catalogues are great if you want to check compatibility for retro-fits etc.

It's a bit awkward at first. But once you have loaded your discounts and added time per task. It adds it all up for you.

No more 'how much should I charge?' [hopefully]

The PDF outputs are pretty tidy, saves lots of typing!

Used it before, but after searching google to find options for estimating software, it brought this old thread up. Re loaded electrika and its still just as difficult to get to grips with as before. Anyone got any tips???

Think its more QS based as you have to know all your discounts on each item and change, so only any good on a large job if you have a spare couple of days to quote it.

If you know what you want i just give the list to wholesalers and i get the quote back in minutes.
Its a no brainer really.

Apologies for reviving an old thread, but i was wondering if anyone is using this software? Has it improved? Worth the effort? Or is it still easier to guess a number and add a zero?

I work with excel spreadsheets for pricing. I have a few versions depending on the size of the job and complexity of quote. Its not hard to cobble one up that works well.

The ones I use are not complicated.
Basically the only advantages over paper are that you don't have to get your calculator out, it does your sums for you, and you can change things without a rubber or tippex.

I do have some complex ones for when I used to price larger tenders that use time norms and such, but being self employed I probably won't use those again.
