Hi All,

I am looking for advice on electrical careers, i currently work in the access control industry of which i have a deep level of understanding of relays and control circuits and have a passion for physics and want to do something more specialised in the industry. I do not have much practical experience and lack confidence as i have just finished my apprenticeship but understand the theory to electrical work extremely well as i have aptitude for physics amongst being academic.

I am looking to move into a more specialised career path eventually for example, robotics, biomedical electrical engineering, PLC's, AV etc. Does anyone have an idea on what routes i could pursue or even if i could pursue them with this qualification?

I would find it really helpful if someone can get back to me on this, i appreciate this may not be the group to post thia however i would just like to gain some insight into the paths i could explore with my qualification.

I have passed my NVQ and passed my AM2S also.

Many thanks
Joe

Have you considered looking at and maybe approaching some of the machine manufacturers in the area?

I can think of 2 locally to you. but there will be many more.

Wickman machine tools (coventry)

Mazak (worcester)

You simply have to try. In many cases companies ask for XYZ job but in reality have other stuff and ABC capabilities might just get you in the door and if you deliver on that in time your options are very much expanded.
