Hi Guys,
An electrician I know has been asked to do a mains change,as he does not have 2391 he has asked me if I will test it.I am right in saying that I could only do a periodic for him as I am not doing the work?
Thanks

nothing wrong with you testing it and doing an EIC. Technically, you should supervise his work, if it was a full install you would have to visually inspect 1st and 2nd fix, when you say mains change, do you mean CU relacement? At the end of the day it's your name on the cert.

i am jib registered installation electrician just lost my job and a builder friend has asked me to do an installation in some stables in is working on which i sed i can do no problems.
i havent got my inspection&testing, iam able to do the testing and sign certs. i know how to test which i done in my apprenticeship in the right order etc.

Have him to use a 3 part eic He can sign the design and installation parts and you can sign for the testing

There's your answer, also, you don't NEED 2391 to test & inspect, competence is what's needed.
