Hi

Looking for electrical design software capable of producing domestic and industrial/commercial systems. The software needs to perform all cable calcs, voltdrop, fault currents, loop impedance values and produce a detailed schematic to boot.

Has anyone used software design programs and if so do you have any recommendations?

Cheers

I use live wire - you can do basic drawings using shapes as well as importing pictures or plans from other software, you can then draw your wires ontop as well as all the sockets, switches, etc.

Best of all you can then test the installation out and check your current calculations, fuses, etc.

Most people think its only for electronics, yes thats what it was designed for but yes it contains a lot for 230v AC and mains electric

Amtech does seem the dogs. Came across another program Cable Calculation Software, Electrical Installation, Circuit Design Software, UK the demo seems easy enough
but can't for the life of me get hold of the company to ask a few questions. So Amtech it is.

i have had the evaluation copy of the cable calc software its got lots and lots on it for the money but to be honest i went with Amtech as its ISO acredited for peice of mind., although its a lot more dosh for what you get in the package but at least you know its right ! works great and some the reports on the design package are very good.

i got a great deal on it because i told them i was going to buy the cable calc software but i had to push them to get the deal.

although the bad point is my support contract is up and they want another ÂŁ 791.00 inc vat to renew annualy

exactly hence to say i might not bother renewing it, although the only cert they have update on the test software is the BS 7671 EICR they have not updated the NICEIC ones yet !! wonder if this is a ploy ??

Wozzit, dont' even touch the other one.. They take your money and never offer support or any other kind... Our company were stung by them and trying to reach them for support is like pigs flying, you won't ever see it happening!!!

I worked for a company that used software made by GSN Technologies. The software did a lot of automation for the trade, it was pretty impressive. From what I remember, they dealt with everything from Load design to final installation... you can check them out on the web. _www.gsntechnologies.com
