YouTube - Electrical Explosions and Arcing

regards

...and if u got time for a 10sec clip, heres another one YouTube - air-swith opening hot but I want an explanation why this happens.............................

Luke,

in very simple terms if you have a very high voltage, and an air gap, (like when the switching takes place on the videos) the current will try and bridge the gap (thats the spark) this causes localized ionization of the air around it, which becomes electrically charged - or basically, conductive - of course this causes more current to flow, so eventually think whole thing just blows

basically!

Great stuff ,I love electricity ,best one i ever had was when i cut a live bit of piro carrying 415
love to see it on vidio as i couldnt see anything at the time ,but im still here thanks to elliott lucus!

Yeah, I did that last week actually...

Come to think of it, something like that happens everyday I'm left to my own devices at work... :(

Lovng that! especially the huge explosion! top quality! Good old americans, you gotta love the yellow belly bandits! (homer simpsons of the real world!)

What was that wooden box about? where they testing something? did you hear the random cow bell after the flash? ( a bit like the beggining of a round in boxing!)
