Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me. Ive had a extension done on my house. My electrician has given me Electrical Installation Cert for it(He is NIC EIC Reg). Done it online NIC EIC and has a reference number but my building inspector wont sign it off saying its not Part P cert? Does it matter?
What is the process?

If your part P registered electrician has completed an EIC and notified the job (assuming it needs notifying), then that is the electrical bit sorted as far as BC is controlled. Sounds like some crossed wires here.

Don't really understand that! If he has given you an EIC and registered it online that should be the end of it. I would get the building inspector to put in writing what his gripe is and post it to us.

A little advice. The electrician will notify through his scheme. The scheme will notify the LABC and they (LABC) should issue the building certificate (in respect of the electrical work) from that notification. The LABC don't normally get sent a copy of the cert.

Are you going through a minimalist phase topquark? I need glasses to read your reply!

Is it possible to be full scope NIC without being a registered domestic installer? If not then I would suggest perhaps the building inspector might be a little more helpfull after a good roughing up.

On the new NIC certs there is a box for you to put the part p number. (front page top LHS) Once registered part P cert should land on door mat within 4weeks.

Not to start an argument... but why have you 'quoted' me. I was just stating what the process was for receiving a part P cert from an NIC chap who has registered. :)

with the LABC

If he has registered the works then a Part P certificate will be issued.
Ask the electrician for it.
The inspector will not sign the job off without seeing it, in case it has not been registered.
Don't blame him.

Sorry about that, it looked as though you were saying that you had to put your part P number on the form to have it passed.

Edit:- i put my part P number on my forms, time for bed i think!

I understand where you are coming from now ste. It sounds like the final inspection has been requested before you and LBC have received the part P certificate (as mick said).
Normally not a problem as final inspection is carried out sometimes months after the electrics are completed and notified. Just get the inspector back once the cert arrives in the post :)

With the ELECSA system, once a notifiable job is registered on line it then generally takes about 2 weeks for the Building Regulations Compliance Certificate to arrive at the customers address (NOTE: this certificate goes direct to the client, not to the electrician). When notifying on line there is a summary page at the end which can be printed off. I generally give this to the client so they can show it to BCO in lieu of the BRCC (it has the job reference numbers on it). Simples!

An Electrical Installation in Buildings specifies extensively the rules to comply with to ensure safety and predicted operational characteristics for all types of electrical installations.i think you can discuss about this matter with an electrician.
