Hey everyone!

New to these forums. Looking to get advice on the best option to resolve this:

I have a 50A 6 gauge wire (with an un-used neutral) coming to my detached garage from my main panel that powers an electric car charger via a 6-50R. The car charger only takes 20A but due to the 6-50, the breaker is 50A.

I recently purchased a converted three-phase to 1 phase Delta saw that is wired with an L5-30P.

I am trying to run both of the devices off the same receptacle (only 1 at the time).

I looked at a few options:
  1. Converting the 6-50 to a 60A sub-panel and running lines in the garage from the sub-panel.
  2. Re-wiring the 6-50 plug and table saw to a 14-30 and changing receptacle.
  3. Re-wiring the L5-30 and use a pigtail converter with the 6-50 (I found a pigtail L6-30 to 6-50).
What are my best routes (cost and safety) with this?

My worry was running the 30A table saw on a 50A breaker.

Thanks for any insights!

Some photos attached for some reference.

Best,
Vlad
