Hi

Please can someone help. This is probably a stupid question but i would appreciate some advice. I have recently started carrying out Electrical Condition Reports on waste water pumping stations. My question is are float switches which are supplied via a 24V transformer classed as being electrically seperated as there is no earth run to the float itself?

Electrical separation is identified by the double circles overlapping and for SELV either SELV or class III, however the transformer does not have to be separated as the float switch could be class II. You could do your IR tests for separation as if SELV and if it passes it is SELV, if it fails it may just be faulty SELV!

There are no stupid questions, there are only questions you don't know the answers to. No one knows it all, although some profess that they do, but collectively we do know it all.
