Hello

Quick introduction.

I am a 43 year old New Zealand chap been living in Peterborough for 3 1/2 years.

I am studying via distance learning to become a qualified electrician.

Until I am actually "out there, doing hands-on", everything I have learned so far is just floating around in my head, so to speak.

I would very much like an opportunity (however brief) to observe any electricians at work, so I can make additional notes etc and get a feel for how things are.

I am quite willing to do this off my own back, and do not expect to be paid for it, as I would only be observing and not actually doing any work.

Please, if anyone out there can help, I would be very grateful!

Thanks!

Gary

Welcome Gary, love to help you out, but I'm retired now so no longer actively working, I'm sure there will be someone out there will to let you shadow them, that is of course providing the B&I Lions don't get too badly mauled by the All Blacks;):):D

I would have given you the opportunity but sadly your in the wrong Country, and I don't offer International service just yet?

What about going out to the local garage/shops and asking them, nothing lost!

Another alternative method, and this is an excellent one, I did this myself in my early years gone by, if you can afford it, buy a cheap used car with electrical problems on it, locate technical info for the said car, and happy learning. Sometimes you can learn to understand more at your own pace rather than asking yourself loads of questions in your own mind, why has he done that, this and the other, which could cause you more confusion and cloud your judgement in your early experience working with other more advanced professionals.

Hi Gary,
You can find on Internet many auto electrical schematic diagram with photos or videos explicit. Of course, if you have access to Internet or local you can offer your voluntary work to an Office Service Auto when you have time to your local address near.

hi Gary i am currently studying my level 3 city and guilds and live in Peterborough.i will be finishing in about 4 weeks hoping i pass all the tests to come. Hope the job market is good if i hear of anyone i will let you know. Anyways its good to know of another trainee in peterborough.
