Hey guys, iv just bought a alphatek multi easitest tester, i previously used the megger 1552, but anyway! with this new easi tester I am confused on how to perform a ZE reading, it has the settings " trip - lock " and Loop PSC, L-E and loop PSC L - N, What is the trip lock function it has no setting for ZE or ZS? could the Trip lock be what measures the ZE and ZS? cheers

A: RTFI
Q: No instructions, does the Easitest come with instructions?
A: Yes, usually, contact Metrel, they sell the manuals and theory of use of their instruments
Q: I need to use it now for a job, what should I do?
A: Zs/pfc = high current test (2 cycles at 10-25A). Do something interesting with the RCD
Q: Thanks for that but what about D-Lock?
A: D-Lock setting allows you to select a range of functions, from my older Eurotester, I can test various characteristics of RCDs, Test Zs at 15mA (not much good, as far as I'm concerned), Touch voltage etc.,
Q: Thanks very helpful - thank you once again.
A: That's alright any time :drool5:

Trip lock is for doing a Zs on RCD/ RCBO protected circuits....most of these metrel testers have a line-line..and line-loop on them....line-line will be for doing a phase to neutral/phase loop which will also give you your PSCC.....your line-loop is for your Ze/Zs and will give you your PEFC.....you should be able to disable the trip lock feature for doing a Ze as it will be more accurate (high current loop)..........
