Hi,

What would be the average cost to fit two electrical wall heaters, the current heaters are not working. Im sure its fairly simple to do myself, however would I need an electrican to carry out the task and produce a certificate.

I also need a mains smoke alarm fitted, what would be the cost for this? and again is there a certificate to hold.

The property is located in cardiff.

Many thanks for any help, the property is rented and i'm trying to help out the landlord who has been taken ill.

Ive deleted your other post as it is a duplicate to this one. Leave it for a while and you will no doubt get a reply from someone who lives near you.

Thanks

Chris

Can anyone offer any help with this please?

I should add, there are currently two heaters on the walls, however they dont give off much heat and do not have a built in timer, so its just a case of taking these down and replacing with new.

Ive had a price off someone who lives locally but it seems excessive, any help at all would be great.

The heaters are dimplex, theyve already been bought by the landlord. they are 2000w rating, no it isn't economy seven.

they are standard heaters that can be used on legs or wall mounted.

the ones there currently are wired directly into a socket (there is no plug), and are turned on/off etc from the heater itself

yes that type of heater, there's just a small bracket on the wall, the heater then clips onto it. The current heaters are already mounted, the flex then runs from the heater directly into a socket connection, which in turn is spurred off a plug point near by.

Thanks Kev,

The lighting within the hallway (where the alarm needs to be fitted) is a set of downlights. Is it still possible to run the alarm off these? or would it need to go on a seperate supply, the consumer unit is also in the hallway.

Last question, to change over the convector heaters is there an electrical certificate needed?e.g. minor electrical works cert?

Many thanks for everyones help

Unlikely to be able to take a power feed for the smoke alarm from you downlighters as there's prob only a switch feed. And the common will prob be in a JB above ceiling or at the light switch.

I reckon you'll get mixed views on a certificate being needed, as many say a like for like replacement needs not to be tested.

Thanks magic-sid

I was hoping that would be the case, as i would be able to get that done myself.

I can then just get someone in to sort out the smoke alarm
