Hi Guys
Could do with a few pointers here as having trouble trying to find the right department to of local planning to inform them of work that i have done at the moment i have a CU change and a full rewire but every time i have called the local council/planning no one seems to know what department i need, as im suposed to notify of notifiable work how are you suposed to this if no one seems to no anything. Help!

Not wanting to state the obvious but as notifiable works you should have "notified" them first in all probability and paid your ÂŁ150+ or whatever it is in your neck of the woods.

I'm assuming by your question that you are not in an approved scheme? Last time I read Part P it basically noted 3 types of installer, Joe Public, then someone competent but not a member of an approved scheme then the competent, fully paid up member of NICEIC etc who can notify without stumping up the ÂŁ150 every time. Then different local councils have different takes on who can do the work, who can inspect, test etc etc. Dowload Part P here - who can do what at the councils discretion is on the first couple of pages.

Planning Portal - Approved Document P

Yes i should notfied first, but as not being able to speak to the right people or get to the right department has prolonged things rather, work gets in the way and all that, i have an assement next week so need to get these things in place

Are you using this work for your assessment, if so who are you hoping to join. The reason I ask is Elecsa dont expect you to notify your work to LABC and when you pass your assessment you can notify your work through them, so I would check with your assessor what they require.

And who said that scheme members are ''Competent''?? They might want the outside world to ''Think'' that all their members are all competent electricians!! But we all KNOW, that isn't the case at all.....
