Electrician apprenticeship ?

Hi, Im 28 years old and having gained many different electrical qualifications while working in my current job i have started to think its time for a career change and become an domestic electrician.

The qualifications i have are:

EAL certificate for domestic electrical installers level 2 and 3 (equilvent to c+g 2330)
Part P
2391 - Ins + Testing
17th Edition

I have gained these but realise i also need alot more experience and understanding if i want to become an electrician.

With my qualificaions and age, would i be suitable to join a company as an apprentise and if so what sort of wage would i be looking at ??

If you can help or know someone who would be able to answer my questions it would be much appreachited.

What is the 'Part P' qualification?

On what basis do you think that these two qualifications are equivalent?

A qualification in Part P?

2391 or 2392?

As you're probably starting to find out the biggest hurdle will be your age. Try canvasing the local firms.

Domestic installers course is nowhere near equivalent to the 2330....

2330 consists of 3 phase and motors etc...you are hardly going to find that in the domestic installers course aswell as the scientific equations etc.

If you have the 2391 good on you but by the list of other quals you give I'm much more inclined to think its the 2382....big difference.

Not another poor sod that's been sold up the DI river.

Is that what the 5 day centres are claiming now that their 30 hours of learning is the same as a 2 year 2330 course !!!!
