Hi everyone
I am thinking of getting a pair of these as I have a job that has been started but I have to terminate a 35mm swa into a ryfield board that is already feeding 4 units so I am unable to turn the supply off. The cable termination is ok as there is room in the Trunking above but the actual terminals seem quite close so would rater have the protection of the gauntlets just to be on the safe side.
Also where would be the best place to buy from as I'd rather not do eBay and get a dodgy pair thanks in advance.

So, if you are going to do it live, tell me how you are going to perform the correct sequence of tests before you energise it? Of are you not planning on testing it....

You would be a fool to go anywhere near it, it's not clever to think you can work on a live installation, it's just stupid.

You test it exactly the same as you do any other circuit, you don't always isolate a whole board just to test one circuit so that's no different.

There is nothing wrong with properly planned and executed love working if it is necessary and all options for isolation have been discounted.

what's the point of working live though when it isn't necessary! such as the OP

Wow that's a response

Maybe I never explained myself properly I am installing the feed to a newly built unit into an existing ryfield board I only wanted them so when I terminate the cable I noticed that the bus bar for the adjacent phase is fairly close to where the cable terminates so just wanted to be as safe as I can be.
Yes there is rubber matting on the floor.
Not quite sure how you come to the conclusion uksparks that I'm not going to test as I never mentioned that anywhere.
Thanks for the links for those of you that have done so.

Anyone tried to work with 11KV rated gloves? You may as well have plaster casts on your hands.
If you’re going down the PPE road of live working you’ll also need arc flash protection.

One of our lads had a bit of an accident that resulted in him receiving the brunt of a flash. He was in hospital for a while.
That was 250V to earth with a 1200A ACB as back up. His screwdriver became a fuse!

Do still want to work live?

My thoughts exactly!! That goes for certified 1000V gloves as well, things become very difficult when you can't feel as well as see what you're doing.

I'm guessing this Ryefield board is going to be backed up by some decent sized DNO fuses, so as has been stated, you'll also need approved arc flash protection, if you're still daft enough to attempt this work live....

True, I was just thinking about working live and being stupid and overlooked the fact that you would have dead cables in your hand! Doh!
