Ok, so following on from darkwood's original thread on basic maths I thought I'd start a thread for people to add a few things that are a little more complex than basic multiplication and division. Nothing too hard but should still be easy peasy for any spark!

I'll start with this:

Make G the subject :)

ps. you can use MS Word or Math Input Panel in the accessories menu to write formulae.

G[SUP]2 [/SUP]= (e.f[SUP]0.5[/SUP])/(h((a.d[SUP]2[/SUP])/b.c)[SUP]2[/SUP])

G = ((e.f[SUP]0.5[/SUP])/(h((a.d[SUP]2[/SUP])/b.c)[SUP]2[/SUP]))[SUP]0.5[/SUP]

OK Dave (D Skelton, it's got to be! :) )

Easy one...

RYB rotating anti clockwise, if R is the reference, what are Y & B in complex form?
Assume per unit form.

Don't know why any sprk will need to know this, but I enjoy maths and haven't a clue, it's one of them things they brush on but you never need it ,

easier ones skelli

Recognise any of these equations?

That's one reason why knowing this stuff might be useful :)

Dave it is not :D

Erm, ya got me stumped! All I can see is 120 and 240? Either I'm missing something fundamental or I'm massively overthinking it!

Maybe if you were to expand on the context of the question I might see what you're getting at.

G= (e.f[SUP]0.5[/SUP])/(h((a.d[SUP]2[/SUP])/b.c)[SUP]2[/SUP])

G[SUP]0.5[/SUP] = ((e.f[SUP]0.5[/SUP])/(h((a.d[SUP]2[/SUP])/b.c)[SUP]2[/SUP]))[SUP]0.5[/SUP]

Very nearly!

One correct answer would be:

Derek,

Balls! I'm going to have to look at my workings on that, too flash for my own good there!. :)

RYB, think vectors, think j (sqrt(-1)) and all will be revealed.

Ahh yes!

Derek it is not :D

fR = cos(ωt) + (e[SUP]jα[/SUP] x cos(ωt - (2π/3))) + ((e[SUP]jα[/SUP])[SUP]2[/SUP] x cos(ωt + (2π/3)))

Am I on the right track? :D
