Hi,

One of my neighbours has just popped into see me about noise they are getting on their radio/BT line etc.It seems this may be coming from their Boiler and from an Internet search it seems it may be the particular Boiler they have that can cause these problems. It is a Vailant 'eco TEC plus'. Has anyone come across this before and maybe found a solution? I know contacting the Manufacturer is a step forward, asking the installer, maybe.

Just hoping somebody may have encountered this before.

I know many years ago Boilers were fitted with Radio Suppression, but not sure if that's still the case.

Regards.

how can a boiler add interference to the phone line.

what is it affecting phone, internet or?

if its internet then i bet its just the channel there on etc

You need to learn to understand the language of the uneducated customer!
Where they say 'noise on the phone line' read 'interference when using the phone'
Couple this with the interference also affecting radio and you get to the conclusion that they have wireless phones which are picking up the interference.

Hi,

Looking on the net for problems related to Boilers, it seems the main culprits are room thermostats and gas valves; but it is a process of elimination and not a science as such.

Thank you for your replies, if anyone has experienced this before I'm all ears.

Regards.

The only experience I have had with radio interference on phone lines, is when near radio mast's or poor quality phone, try a good quality corded phone in master socket, if still got radio fit RF.

You need more info on exactly what type of noise, it's frequency of occurrence and its duration. Is it crackly noise or more like a buzz or a whistle or whine or even a clicking? Is it constant when the boiler is running or does it happen only when it heats? Does it sound like it could have a 100Hz element to it?

I wouldn't even start to action a problem like this without lots of accurate info. First step is to figure out if it's noise on the power network or whether it's RFI.
