Had a debate with another spark about this one see what the gen. consensus is:-

Should emergency lighting be supplied by its own MCB at the DB?

In my opinion the emergency lighting covering an area should be supplied from the relevant lighting MCB for that area so that, for example, if the MCB for stairway lighting trips due to a fault on that circuit, the emergency lighting will kick in.

The other spark reckons that the emergency lighting should have an independent MCB???

with phil!!

whats the point of having emergency lighting if they dont come on with a breaker failure on the lighting circuit in question!! no briainer really!!

so i agree with you!!!!

I have seen emg lighting on the same mcb as the lighting, and independent mcb which turn on via a relay/contactor....

I would imagine both ways are fine?????
